1SENATE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 

3to learn of the death of Gary Wayne Thomas of Bartonville, who 

4passed away on June 17, 2025; and

5 WHEREAS, Gary Thomas was born to Peter and Berniece C. 

6(Adams) Thomas in Peoria on June 27, 1946; he graduated from 

7Limestone Community High School in 1964; he married Alberta 

8Lynn "Mandy" Homan in Bartonville on March 30, 1968; and

9 WHEREAS, Gary Thomas worked as a power plant operator for 

10CILCO, and he later served as a business agent for the 

11International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers; he also ran a 

12successful heating and air conditioning service for many 

13years; and

14 WHEREAS, Gary Thomas served as supervisor of Hollis 

15Township and as a member of the Tuscarora Volunteer Fire 

16Department; later in life, he and his wife developed the 

17Whitetail Ridge Estates subdivision in Bartonville; and

18 WHEREAS, Gary Thomas loved playing cards and listening to 

19music; he was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for hunting 

20and fishing, including spending several years commercial 

21fishing, running hoop nets, trotlines, and trammel nets, and

1enjoying many summer nights catfishing on the Illinois River 

2with his family; and

3 WHEREAS, Gary Thomas will be remembered for living life on 

4his own terms, making every minute count; and

5 WHEREAS, Gary Thomas was preceded in death by his parents 

6and his hunting companions, Cinder and Lucy; and

7 WHEREAS, Gary Thomas is survived by his wife of 57 years, 

8Alberta; his daughter, Teresa Lynn (Thomas) Donley; and his 

9grandson, Patrick Ryan Donley; therefore, be it
